Nichols Street Veterans Apartments

Nichols Street Veterans Apartments consist of 8 studio apartments and two 2-bedroom apartments that are reserved for veterans -who intend to maintain sobriety and who have set goals for future achievement. After realizing veterans recovering from addictions had no real housing opportunities, nor could they afford market value rents with the associated costs - utilities, insurance, etc., Nichols St. Apartments provide a wonderful opportunity to get reestablished in a local community. Men and women have overcome addictions and we like to think we helped in their pursuit of a quality life.

Recognizing that veterans needed housing after initial recovery from abuses is what led to the development of Nichols Street Veterans Apartments. Nichols Street is a safe, sober apartment complex where all residents in the complex agree to live drug and alcohol free. The veterans here have reestablished themselves and are visible in the local community, volunteering their services in a wide variety of events ranging from the VVA "Bike Run" to local parades and fundraisers.

Nichols Street housing is a familiar home-like environment that the residents are proud of and is shown through their efforts in doing minor tasks involved in the up-keep of the landscaping. It is a facility and program that the Gardner community can be proud of and we are grateful to this wonderful city for opening its arms to veterans. Without the support of the citizens of Gardner, MVOC programs could not flourish as they do. Gardner is veteran-friendly, making all veterans welcome and those that come to Gardner feel so welcome they want to stay and remain in the community long after completion of these programs
